High-Speed nvSRAM Family Delivers High Endurance, Non-Volatile Memories
In RoHS-Compliant, Small-Footprint Packages with No Battery

SAN JOSE, Calif., April 5, 2007 - Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE: CY) today announced that its non-volatile SRAMs (nvSRAMs) have been named Product of the Year in the Memory category of Global Source's EE Times-China Annual Creativity in Electronics (ACE) Awards. The Products of the Year recognize leadership and excellence in product design, with awards going to the product or technology that significantly impacts or has a potential to impact mainland China's electronics market. Winners were chosen by a panel of industry experts and were announced at a gala coinciding with the 12th International IC-China Conference and Exhibition (IIC-China 2007).

Cypress nvSRAMs internally store data when power is lost, with no battery required. The elimination of the external battery enables Cypress to deliver the RoHS-compliant, high-speed devices in smaller packages than alternative solutions. The nvSRAMs are ideal for any application requiring continuous high-speed writing of data and absolute non-volatile data security, such as RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) applications, copiers, PoS terminals, handheld meters, and consumer electronics products. These nvSRAMs are the first in a family of devices being developed pursuant to Cypress's previously announced agreements with Simtek Corporation, the inventor and pioneer of nvSRAMs.

About Cypress nvSRAMs
Cypress's nvSRAMs use a charge stored on an external capacitor instead of a battery, making the devices compatible with standard PCB assembly processes. The devices offer data retention for a minimum of 20 years. Operating with access times as fast as 25 ns, the nvSRAMS are available in 1 Mbit/3V, 256 Kbit/3V, 256 Kbit/5V, 64 Kbit/5V and 16 Kbit/5V configurations. The devices are highly scalable, with all of the configurations available in small 32-pin SOIC packages and the 1-Mbit and 256-Kbit devices also available in 48-pin SSOP packages.

In RAID applications, nvSRAMs offer high-speed data transfer while ensuring data integrity in case of power outages. For copiers, nvSRAMs deliver fast data access and eliminate the need for a battery.
