Cypress Names Hitoshi Yoshizawa Country Manager for Japan
35-Year Industry Veteran Brings Deep Knowledge of Programmable Device Landscape in Japanese Market
TOKYO, June 3, 2009 -- Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE: CY) today introduced Hitoshi Yoshizawa as its new country manager for Japan, reporting to senior vice president of Worldwide Sales, Ben Lee. He brings 35 years of embedded design experience to this role, a key factor in helping Cypress to continue and expand penetration of the PSoC® programmable system-on-chip family and other Cypress solutions into a wide range of applications within Japan. Dr. Yoshizawa will assume his new role effective July 1.
Dr. Yoshizawa joined Cypress in 2008 as senior director of Marketing and Applications. Prior to Cypress, he was President of Xilinx K.K., managing the entire Japanese operation. At Xilinx, he was responsible for proliferating FPGAs into the Japanese market. In particular, he facilitated FPGA adoption in consumer products such as flat-panel TVs and digital cameras, ending the dominance of ASICs in those systems. Prior to Xilinx, he worked for NEC Electronics for 30 years. His last position at NEC was general manager of the Consumer/Industrial ASIC business. He is a graduate of Waseda University (Tokyo, Japan) with a Doctor of Engineering degree.
“I have been involved in embedded designs for many years, and have been a part of the seminal change from ASICs to programmable logic,” said Dr. Yoshizawa. “I see the PSoC platform as the next wave in embedded designs, and I am eager to lead Cypress’s efforts in Japan to proliferate the powerful solution that PSoC offers.”
“Yoshizawa-san is an industry veteran with a proven track record. He brings technical expertise, market knowledge and customer relationships to this role,” said Lee. “As we have demonstrated with recent design wins at Fujitsu, Sharp and Wacom, Cypress is gaining strong momentum with our PSoC and TrueTouch™ touchscreen solutions in Japan. We are confident that Yoshizawa-san will successfully lead the Cypress Japan organization to build on that momentum.”
