CCG5C Family EZ-PD™ CCG5C Architecture Technical Reference Manual (TRM)

EZ-PD™​ CCG5C is a single port USB Type-C and PD controller. The controller complies with the latest USB Type-C 1.3 and Power Delivery (PD) 3.0 standards. EZ-PD™​ CCG5C is an enhancement to Cypress' EZ-PD™​ CCG5 Type-C controller with integrated SBU/HS Mux, high-voltage LDO, and high-voltage protection on the CC and SBU lines. EZ-PD CCG5C provides a complete USB Type-C and USB-PD port control solution for notebooks and docking stations. It can also be used in dual-role power (DRP) and downstream facing port (DFP) applications. EZ-PD CCG5C uses Cypress' proprietary M0S8 technology with a 32-bit, 48-MHz Arm® Cortex®-M0 processor with 128-KB flash and integrates one Type-C transceiver including the Type-C termination resistors Rp and Rd. CCG5C devices have these characteristics:

■ Supports one USB Type-C port
■ High-performance, 32-bit single-cycle Cortex-M0 CPU core
■ Configurable timer, counter, and PWM blocks
■ Configurable serial communication blocks (SCB) to support I2C, SPI, and UART
■ Integrated oscillator eliminating the need for an external clock
■ Integrated UFP (Rd) and current sources (Rp) termination resistors
■ Integrated dead battery termination resistors for DRP applications
■ Integrated legacy charging protocols charger block
■ High-voltage protection on CC and SBU lines
■ Integrated VCONN FETs
