AN95615 explains the design of passive USB 3.1 Type-C cables using EZ-PD™ CCG2. This application note explains how manufacturers can easily design and manufacture passive electronically marked cable assembly (EMCA) using CCG2.


EZ-PD™ CCG2 is Cypress’s second generation USB Type-C controller that has an Arm® Cortex®-M0 with 32KB flash. EZ-PD™ CCG2 is optimized for all cable applications including passive EMCA, active EMCA and cable adapters.
