The use of HOTLink® data communications products to drive copper media is documented in a Cypress application note titled Driving Copper Cables with HOTLink. Long transmission lines (those that cannot be treated as lossless) present additional design concerns. The special characteristics and concerns of operation with long copper cables are covered in this application note, which is also expected to be used in conjunction with the Cypress application note AN1162 - HOTLink Design Considerations.
