Company Details:

Particle offers a suite of hardware and software tools to help you prototype, scale, and manage Internet of Things products. To do this, Particle has developed a fast, scalable, and secure cloud platform platform that makes it easy to connect IoT devices around the world to the internet and to each other. In addition, the Particle suite of tools includes hardware development kits — the postage stamp-sized Core and Photon development boards, their new cellular board (the Electron), and web tools for managing and operating a “fleet” of products.

Particle Photon - $19

The Photon is a tiny $19 Wi-Fi development kit for creating connected projects and products for the Internet of Things. It's easy to use, it's powerful, and it's connected to the cloud.

Specifications:

  • Particle P0 Wi-Fi module
  • Cypress CYW43362 based design
  • Single band 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi chip
  • softAP setup
  • ST Micro STM32F205 120Mhz ARM Cortex-M3
  • 1MB flash, 128KB RAM
  • FCC/CE/IC certified

Specifications:

  • Cypress CYW43362 based design
  • Single band 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi chip
  • Supports wireless data rates of up to 65Mbit/s
  • Ultra low power sleep, stand-by and stop modes
  • Supports WEP, WAPI, WPA and WPA2-PSK Wi-Fi security modes
  • ST Micro STM32F205 120Mhz ARM Cortex-M3
  • 1MB flash, 128KB RAM

P1 - Particle Module (x10) - $120

The P1 is the P0's bigger brother. Like the P0, the P1 comes pre-loaded with Particle OS firmware and includes their basic cloud service. While the P1 shares the same basic specifications (see above) as the P0, it also includes a built-in antenna and uFL connector to minimize RF design efforts. The P1 is also FCC-certified, and has additional external flash to accommodate more rigorous application requirements.
