Tips - Speedy Schematic Wiring
Here are some tips on making wiring in PSoC Creator schematics faster and neater. Most of the time you, like me, probably just click on the icon in the top left corner of the editor and hook up the components in your design one wire at a time.
Did you know there is a hot-key for that? Pressing the 'w' key is another way to start the wiring tool.
If you are feeling a bit frisky you might try using the "kissing" trick where you place a component such that one of its terminals touches the terminal of another component. That creates a connection between the two and you can subsequently drag them apart and wire magically appears between the two. Cute!
But I recently saw a completely new approach that I thought I would share with you - sticky wires. My colleague decides what components he needs and just drags them all into the schematic without wiring anything up. Once he has everything he needs he double-clicks on the wiring tool and it enters sticky mode. He then makes all his connections in no time. He clicks on one terminal, then another, and the wire is complete. The tool remains in wiring mode so the next connection is just as fast as the first. Repeat, repeat, repeat, press escape and he's done!
Sticky wires can save a fair amount of time when designing. In a future blog I will expand on that idea with some more wiring tips that can really help with complex, multi-page designs.
