Inductive Sensing Devices Available Now
So England didn't win the World Cup. Again. They said it was coming home, but it stayed away. Again. Damn you Jules Rimet!
Luckily, on the PSoC front, things are looking really good, which is a nice distraction. I'm excited to tell you that PSoC Creator now supports the PSoC 4700 series of microcontrollers (MCUs). These clever new PSoCs use inductive sensing to detect touch inputs for products using metal surfaces! All kinds of consumer, industrial, and automotive products are starting to use metallic materials to improve aesthetics. These PSoCs are enabling that change for everyone by making inductive sensing as easy to use as Cypress’ industry-leading CapSense®solutions for capacitive-sensing.
The devices are available with a device pack so you do not need to re-install PSoC Creator 4.2. The pack also includes some new PSoC 4100S Plus devices and automotive-qualified PSoC 4100S parts. Here's how to get access to the all the new PSoC goodness...
- Install the latest version of PSoC Programmer (3.27.3)
- If you haven't already (slapped wrists all around!) install PSoC Creator 4.2
- Go to Tools -> Find new devices in PSoC Creator. The Device Update Installer window will pop up.
- Click on the Install Button.
- Restart PSoC Creator.
The whole process shouldn't take more than a few minutes. Do it now, before you forget. It will take your mind off your own team's World Cup woe.
