Electronica is over - so long and thanks for the pork knuckle
I finally arrived home after a long trip to Europe. We had a great time in Munich but I will not be eating pork knuckle or weisswurst for a while to give my blood pressure get a chance to settle down. Well, not until Embedded World in Nuremburg. Probably.
After the rather anxious setup day on Monday we were really pleased to find that simply flooding the demo was NOT enough to stop it working on Tuesday morning. Here's Alan explaining that "Life is too short for flakey Wi-Fi" while I watch to make sure the demo is behaving.
We did have one panic moment but I managed to get to the big green "kill switch" to stop the pumps and no-one got covered in blue-dyed water. That night we made some improvements to our demo firmware and it worked perfectly for the rest of the week... which is kinda the whole point of our show. It's one thing to get an application running on your desk. It's something completely different to take a product to market and be confident that it can run, reliably, everywhere, in all conditions. Cypress' WICED Wi-Fi ran like a champ at Electronica even though our Internet connection was really unreliable and we were surrounded by dozens, if not hundreds, of 2.4 GHz devices clogging up the airwaves! Oh, and our demo ran Wi-Fi and Bluetooth at the same time - on the same connectivity device!
We'll be doing a similar demo at Embedded World in February, with some really cool giveaways, and some new features in the demos. We really hope you can make it to Nuremberg for that show. While we cannot guarantee that you will not get sprayed with blue water and go home looking like Papa Smurf, we do guarantee that you'll have fun in the process.
