Reducing the Risks for IoT Design Engineers
Today the IoT is an integral part of many of our lives. TVs, thermostats, lights, and even doorbells are now internet connected. It’s been a radical change in the last five years, and we’ll see that scale of change again now that we are on a pace to see the market reach US$1.1 trillion by 2026, according to Fortune Business Insights™.
Most people I know take IoT products for granted, but those of us in the trenches know that getting an IoT product to market is still not easy. Even with a clear market need, a clear competitive advantage, and a clear path to marketing and sales, the technical and integration risks of bringing an IoT product to market are still remarkably high.
That’s why here at Cypress we are focused on making that easier. Being your trusted partner who helps you bring your product to market faster, with lower cost and lower risk. We are intimately aware of the challenges and dedicate our time and efforts to provide you the best products and tools to help. This quarter, you’ll hear from the Cypress team about many of the things we’re doing to reduce your risk in bringing IoT products to market. Here are some highlights you'll hear more about:
Reducing integration risk. Integrating an IoT product to the cloud is one of the core technical challenges of the IoT. We launched the AnyCloud solution in ModusToolbox® to integrate compute and connectivity into a single platform, making cloud integration simple. For those customers using AWS IoT or Arm Pelion, ModusToolbox also includes pre-built solutions with the cloud middleware so it works out of the box.
Reducing security risk. As the leader in IoT connectivity, Cypress products are routinely probed by the most-sophisticated security researchers. We take that feedback and deliver fixes quickly, helping you keep your products secure. We’ve also made it easier for you to improve your product security with the recent addition of our PSoC® 64 secure MCU products.
Reducing connectivity risk. Too often, IoT products have Wi-Fi connectivity issues, and this is frustrating for any consumer. That is why we provide IoT Network Intelligence (INI) tools to all Cypress Wi-Fi customers. INI not only helps with existing products in the field, but it can be used in your alpha and beta releases to find, isolate, and fix any connectivity issues in your product before launch. INI is now available for Linux and is pre-integrated in ModusToolbox, so you can get your product to market quickly and with confidence.
These are among many other features, tools, and capabilities you’ll hear about this quarter. As the trusted partner for the leading companies making IoT products, your success is our success. If there are other ways we can help reduce the risk of your product launch, please let us know!
