Embedded in A Better Tomorrow

Destructive climate change, students falling through the cracks in an underdeveloped education system, and families who aren’t sure where their next meal will come from – the world is full of problems that need solving. That’s why at Cypress we never stop working on solutions.

Since 1991 we’ve provided over 40 million meals to hungry members of our community, helped bridge the gap in education by supporting programs that focus on underserved students in STEM, and made conscious decisions to balance our operations with environmental health. We know we can’t do it alone, so we proudly partner with nonprofit organizations across the globe to extend our reach.

Why do we do it? It’s just who we are. Cypress employees drive the philanthropy efforts at each of our 50+ locations. Problem solvers all over the world share causes they’re passionate about with colleagues and turn interest into action through volunteer work, donation drives, and monetary contributions. To help us focus our efforts, we’ve identified three fundamental pillars of giving vital to positive change: Education, Environment, and Community.

Our pillar of education is rooted in the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential. We offer support to underrepresented students in STEM because every child should have the opportunity to excel and not be held back by anything, including their gender or where they come from. With technology advancing faster than core curriculum, we acknowledge that some students are not as prepared for the world outside the classroom as their peers; and as a champion of equality, we focus on supporting programs that provide a means for underserved students to connect, learn, and receive the resources they need to be successful in STEM.

Cypress San Jose is a bronze level supporter of First Robotics and in Austin we donated over 58 backpacks stocked with school supplies in 2018

Though we’re incredibly honored to partner with programs that increase a young student’s chance of continuing their education, we know their development doesn’t stop there. We’ve established the Cypress University Alliance to facilitate the donation of thousands of Cypress PSoC kits to university classes every year and give college students the opportunity to work hands on with our industry leading products. Students who receive these kits gain experience with the kind of tools they’ll need to effectively solve problems in the classroom and later in their careers.

Education is just one of many ways Cypress is embedded in a better tomorrow; we also realize that each of us play a role in fighting climate change and its progression, which is why environment is one of our key pillars of giving. We support the development of green technology and actively consider the environmental implications of our business practices. Finally, and possibly the closest to our heart, is our pillar of community - a branch of giving we take very seriously. While our products are used to solve technical problems around the world, our people are working after hours to solve social issues in their own backyard. From donations of fully stocked backpacks, brand new shoes, and millions of meals in our Bay Area community alone, we proudly participate in community service at many of our 50+ site locations globally.

Our passion for giving back has resulted in an annual impact of over 1,000 Cypress employee volunteers, 6,000+ hours of community service, and more than $700,000 dollars donated to charities every year. We’re incredibly proud to be putting our problem-solving skills to good use in both the worlds of industry and philanthropy.
