Cypress Employees go the Extra Mile to Make a Difference

In my last blog “Highlights from Cypress’s Worldwide Social Responsibility Initiatives,” I explored the dedicated efforts of our employees and their families to make a difference in their communities. Cypress is fortunate and very proud to employ team members that not only embody our commitment to being a good corporate citizen at work, but also in their personal lives. Below are standout organizations that our individual employees support.

Resource Area for Teaching (RAFT)
Emma Duque of our San Jose office, who was recently featured in the Winter 2015-2016 issue of Minority Engineer, actively supports RAFT, a non-profit focused on inspiring, engaging and educating children through the power of hands-on teaching. According to Emma, “Studies have shown that students are more engaged in learning through hands-on activities. They can develop skills to better grasp concepts especially in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).”

Swim with Mike
The mission of Swim with Mike is to provide financial resources for advanced education that paves the way for physically challenged athletes to overcome their life challenging accidents or illnesses and realize their full potential. SWM has special importance to Erin Kettwig from our San Jose location. She said, “I have directly seen the impact that a scholarship from this organization can have on the life of an athlete and their family – and that happened after I started volunteering for this organization while in college at USC.”

Asha for Education

Asha for Education
Sandeep Bhat of the Cypress Langen, Germany office believes access to education is one of the basic rights of every individual. “There is a massive gap in providing education to everyone in India, especially underprivileged children. Asha for Education provides me with an opportunity to bridge this gap,” said Sandeep. Whenever possible, the organization also helps address issues affecting human life, such as healthcare, the environment, socio-economic matters and women’s issues.
