Block Diagram

The embedded wave-pattern-generation function and 12-bit A/D converter enable the microcontroller to simultaneously acquire and quickly convert three-phase circuit torque currents. The installed R/D converter resolves the rotor position, and calculates the angle and angular velocity. The MCU manages the powertrain through the three-channel CAN controller. In addition, the MB91580 has a FlexRay controller, the next-generation automotive network communications protocol, to govern on-board automotive computing.

Design Considerations

This application example shows the 32-bit Spansion Traveo MB9D560 and Spansion FR MB91580 microcontrollers being used to control the hybrid/electric vehicle motor.
