Cypress’s PSoC® 4 BLE is an easy-to use, ARM® Cortex™-M0 based, single-chip solution which integrates programmable analog front ends, programmable digital peripherals, CapSense® technology for touch-sensing, and a Bluetooch® LE (Low Energy) or Bluetooth Smart radio.

PRoC® BLE is an easy-to-use, ARM Cortex-M0 based, single-chip solution which integrates a Bluetooth LE radio and Cypress's CapSense technology for touch-sensing.

By the end of this workshop, you will:

  • Understand Cypress's BLE one-chip solutions including PSoC 4 BLE and PRoC BLE
  • Understand the BLE architecture
  • Learn how to use Cypress's BLE solutions and development environment to implement:
    • - BLE connections with PSoC 4 BLE and PRoC BLE
    • - One-chip, sensor-based, system designs with BLE connectivity for the Internet of Things (IoT)
    • - One-chip, CapSense® touch-sensing user interface designs with BLE connectivity

Workshop Overview: Afternoon

Cypress's Solar-Powered IoT Device Kit provides a complete, easy-to-use platform that can be used to design a solar-powered IoT Device with Bluetooth LE. The Energy Harvesting System (EHS) uses Cypress's new S6SE101A Energy Harvesting PMIC optimized for solar energy, and BLE connectivity is provided by Cypress's EZ-BLE PRoC Module. Firmware and application software to implement a Wireless Sensor Node (WSN) that transmits sensor data as a BLE Beacon is also included.

By the end of this workshop, you will:

  • Become familiar with Cypress’s Solar-Powered IoT Device Kit
  • Understand the architecture of a solar-powered Wireless Sensor Node (WSN)
  • Understand the architecture of an Energy Harvesting System (EHS)
  • Learn how to develop a solar-powered WSN with EHS by understanding:
    • - How to measure the power delivered by an EHS
    • - How to select EHS components
    • - How to calculate the power required for the EHS Load
    • - How to design and optimize an EHS
  • Create a Network of IoT Devices
