Veiwing local variables during debugging while using Hi-Tech Compiler

You can watch local variables from the debugger window of PD 5.0, but you have to know the memory address to track them.

Go to your project output directory and open the map file ("project name".mp).
Your local variables will show up under the subroutine. If the subroutine was:

Code:

void sample(void){
int sample_variable;
}

The .mp file would have something like:

sample@sample_variable fnauto 0008

The 4 digit number specified is the memory location occupied by the variable. Use "Define Arbitrary Watch" option and provide the memory location. Select the data type properly and now you can view the local variables in the watch window.
