In addition to providing support for Cypress’s new PSoC 4 BLE and PRoC BLE family of parts, PSoC Creator has several new features and updates which users will enjoy.
Improved Firmware Editor
PSoC Creator 3.0 introduced several new capabilities including auto-complete, go to definition, easy click navigation to Component code, code explorer window, and more. PSoC Creator 3.1 extends and improves these features in a number of ways. For example:
- The auto-complete list is smarter.
- You can define a minimum number of characters before autocomplete kicks in (no more autocomplete when you just want a loop variable!).
- You can configure what [TAB] does (accepts autocomplete selection, close the results window, perform UNIX-style TAB completion.
- You can configure how Macros (#defines) are shown.
For full details, use Creator Help (F1 or Help->PSoC Creator Help Topics) and search for "Text Editor Options". Also, "Find All Active References" is much faster and the results appear in a separate window.
Whole Project "Save As" Capability
Users are now able to intuitively "save as" an entire project, changing the location and/or the project name.
Updated Schematic "Rubber-Banding"
The Rubber-Banding feature implemented in a previous release simply works better in PSoC Creator 3.1.
In PSoC Creator 3.0, we introduced a new Example Project Finder. There are now even more examples available.
Superset Part Programming
Because Cypress does not build development kits for every device/package combination, this feature enables the programming/debugging of hex images for compatible parts of the same family. This means you can use your Cypress development kit and target your specific part in the family. You'll see the new option in the "Select Debug Target" pull-down menu.
Static Library Support for Components
PSoC Creator component support has been extended so that libraries can be added to the implementation of a component. Different libraries may be provided for compiler tool-chains and configurations (DEBUG/RELEASE). This helps component developers in two ways:
- Allows developers to use the standard PSoC Creator component development flow (that is, not shipping a library as an extra piece) without having to provide source code for the whole software package.
- By shipping the source code in a library, component authors see faster builds of projects that use their content.

Cypress is committed to quality. We bring our high silicon quality standards into our software development processes. We perform thousands of hours of testing on each PSoC Creator release. Custom developed hardware is used to test every build, every night, on every component across all PSoC architectures. PSoC Creator will not break your designs.
We are a solutions company that believes in innovation without compromise. Cypress knows you need to be in the market faster with more innovative products. The PSoC Solution can help you get there. Don’t be stuck using a defined feature set by a semiconductor manufacturer, with PSoC you can devote the system resources to exactly the analog, digital, and communications components you need.
