Voltage Supervisor ICs
Voltage supervisor ICs, also known as reset ICs or voltage monitors, are used to monitor system health. These ICs supervise voltage rails that address several system needs such as power concerns during system power up, fault conditions, or the system’s handshake with embedded processors. Cypress's voltage supervisor ICs are highly reliable and trusted by leading automotive OEMs.
MB3771 is designed to monitor the voltage level of one or two power supplies (+5V and an arbitrary voltage) in a microprocessor circuit, memory board in large-size computer, among others. If the circuit’s power supply deviates more than a specified amount, then the MB3771 generates a reset signal to the microprocessor. This protects data on the computer from being accidentally erased.
Additionally, MB3771 requires only few external components. For instance, to monitor a +5 V supply, the MB3771 requires the connection of one external capacitor. The MB3771 is available in an 8-pin, dual in-line, single in-line package or space saving flat package.
The MB3773 generates the reset signal to protect an arbitrary system when the power-supply voltage is momentarily intercepted or decreased. This IC is for the power-supply voltage watch and “power on reset” is generated when the power supply is restored normally. MB3773 sends the microprocessor the reset signal when decreasing more than the optimal voltage and helps protect data. Additionally, the watch-dog timer for the operation diagnosis of the system is built-in, and various microprocessor systems provide the fail-safe function.

MB3793 is an integrated circuit that monitors power voltage with an in-built watchdog timer. A reset signal is sent out when the power is cut abruptly. When the power recovers normally after a reset, a power-on reset signal is sent out to the microprocessor units (MPUs). An internal watchdog timer with two inputs provide a fail-safe function. MB3793 series has CMOS and open drain output.
