Spansion Creates New Security and Advanced Technology Division, Appoints Carla Golla as Executive Vice President
Golla to Lead Corporate-Wide Security Initiative and Advanced Technology Strategy for Spansion
SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 30, 2007 --
Spansion Inc. (Nasdaq: SPSN), the world's largest pure-play provider of Flash memory solutions, today announced the appointment of renown industry veteran, Carla Golla as executive vice president of the newly created Security and Advanced Technology Division. Reporting directly to the Office of the CEO, Golla will be responsible for driving the strategic direction and deployment of Spansion secure memory solutions including the company's MirrorBit(R) HD-SIM(TM) product family. In addition, Golla will be responsible for creating the company's advanced technology strategy, leveraging the TSMC joint development for MirrorBit technology at 40nm and below.

Prior to joining Spansion, Golla held several management and technical positions with ST Microelectronics, most recently serving as general manager of the NAND Flash and Storage Media product group, where she was responsible for hardware and software design, product engineering, quality, planning, product marketing, business development, field technical support, customer service and financial control. While at ST, she was responsible for many initiatives and innovations, including strategic partnerships and designing EPROM memories and application specific memories.

Golla has over 50 patents, is a frequent presenter at technology conferences and has co-authored several papers on a variety of Flash memory topics. She has a master's degree in Nuclear Physics from the University of Milan, where she also holds an undergraduate degree in Physics.
