New Spansion(R) Solutions Network Delivers End-To-End Support for Customers

Last Updated: July 22, 2008

SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 22, 2008 -- Spansion Inc. (Nasdaq: SPSN), the world's largest pure-play provider of Flash memory solutions, today announced the formation of the Spansion(R) Solutions Network designed to help customers bring products to market quickly by providing a network of partnerships with leading hardware and software manufacturers. The Spansion Solutions Network will work closely with the industry's top companies to provide mutual customers with both hardware and software solutions that have been pre-verified and optimized for their use. At the same time, Spansion announced the participation of ten of the industry's leading companies as charter members of the group.

"By working with key partners early in the product cycle, we're able to produce rock-solid, optimized solutions sooner, allowing our customers to deliver their end product to the market much more quickly," said Robert France, vice president, System Tools and Software for Spansion. "Collaborating with customers and partners is especially critical during new product development in rapidly changing industries like Flash memory. The Spansion Solutions Network gives us the framework to respond quickly to our customers' needs."

Spansion Solutions Network Partners

As a company, Spansion is focused on delivering added value in everything it does -- from technology, products, solutions and its interaction with customers and suppliers. The creation of the Spansion Solutions Network rounds out the focus on providing complete memory subsystems and support, allowing customers to innovate faster, more efficiently and more broadly.

By combining forces through the Spansion Solutions Network, Spansion and its partners exchange technical materials and apply advanced development tools to solving system level engineering challenges. This allows Spansion and its partners to anticipate future technical requirements, resolve current customer challenges, ensure compatibility of products, forecast the need for support of specific parts and integrate such support prior to delivering the final product to our customers. The charter members of the Spansion Solutions Network include:

    -- Blunk Microsystems, LLC (www.blunkmicro.com)
    -- Datalight, Inc. (www.datalight.com)
    -- Denali Software, Inc. (www.denali.com)
-- Avnet Electronics Marketing (a division of Avnet Inc.) (www.avnet.com)
    -- Huone Inc. (www.hu1.com)
-- Monta Vista Software, Inc. (mvista.com)
    -- ARM(R). (www.arm.com)
    -- Data I/O Corporation (www.dataio.com)
    -- QNX Software Systems (www.qnx.com)
    -- SDC Micro Inc.

Partners in the Spansion Solutions Network will represent a broad range of technologies, from real-time operating systems (RTOS) to hardware and software solutions. For example, charter member Datalight (http://www.datalight.com) provides the software expertise for high-performance, flexible and reliable Flash file systems, supporting the broadest array of Flash memory technologies and operating systems.

"The Spansion Solutions Network connects us with the technical resources we need to create high-performance Flash file systems matched to Spansion's exceptional memory technologies," said Ken Whitaker, Datalight Director of Engineering. "At the same time, it allows us to provide our trademark Datalight flexibility, performance, and reliability to Spansion customers, giving them a true, complete solution."

Blunk Microsystems (http://www.blunkmicro.com) provides high performance and full featured embedded file systems for DOS/Windows and UNIX compatible file systems that are Flash centric, specifically designed for the cellular phone market.

"The Spansion Solutions Network gives us a double advantage by offering an early look at Spansion's new Flash products, while also providing the opportunity to work more closely with Spansion engineers for better support of mutual customers," said Tim Stoutamore, president of Blunk Microsystems. "Having proven software solutions in place at the same time silicon is available, makes it easier for end-users to adopt Spansion parts and gives them higher confidence in the resulting system solution."

Spansion Solutions Network Goals

The overall goal of Spansion Solutions Network is to encourage the industry's best from around the globe to work with Spansion on developing optimized platform support for a combined portfolio of products and coordinating efforts to support common customers. At the same time, integrating Spansion's current partner and customer support programs into a single point of contact for communicating with any of Spansion's technical support teams promotes mutually beneficial partnerships geared toward the success of shared customers. One of the first results from the program was the early file system support for MirrorBit(R) Eclipse(TM) solutions by Datalight and Blunk, which supported early adoption by key Spansion customers.
