New PSoC® Textbook Addresses The Basics Of Mixed-Signal Embedded Design
Cypress Names Bosco Law Area Sales Manager for China and Hong Kong Regions
Industry Veteran Charged With Continuing Strong Growth; Brings Deep Experience in Proprietary and Memory Markets
HONG KONG, June 4, 2008 -- Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE: CY) today introduced Bosco Law as its new area sales manager for China and Hong Kong. Law, who reports to vice president of Asia Pacific Sales Operations, Paul Chu, has nearly 15 years experience in sales, marketing and engineering roles within the semiconductor industry. He brings extensive embedded design experience to this role, a key factor in helping Cypress to continue and expand penetration of the PSoC® programmable system-on-chip family into a wide range of applications within China.
Law joins Cypress from Winbond Electronics, where he was director of Sales for both the China and Hong Kong regions. He previously held marketing and technical sales management positions at Winbond, after starting his career as a field applications engineer. Law has a BSEE degree from National Taiwan University and an MSEE degree from the University of Southern California.

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 28, 2008 - "Introduction to Mixed-Signal, Embedded Design," a new textbook written by Dr. Alex N. Doboli and Dr. Edward H. Currie is now available. The textbook, which focuses on PSoC® mixed-signal array design, is written for upper division undergraduate and first-year graduate curricula and focuses on defining the characteristics of embedded design, embedded mixed-signal architectures, and top-down design. The textbook discusses topics including the hardware and software used to implement analog and digital interfaces, various filter structures, amplifiers and other signal-conditioning circuits, pulse-width modulators, timers, and data structures for handling multiple similar peripheral devices."
The authors selected the PSoC architecture to illustrate many of the text's key points based largely on the device's capability to deliver a broad range of components typical of a mixed-signal embedded system. The practical exercises contained in the companion laboratory manual, which was co-authored by Cypress Staff Applications Engineer Dave Van Ess, are also based on PSoC.
