Logitech Selects Cypress's WirelessUSB(TM) For New 2.4 GHz Cordless Presentation Controller

Last Updated: March 15, 2005

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 15, 2005- Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE:CY) announced today that Logitech is using the Cypress WirelessUSB(TM) radio system-on-a-chip for the Logitech(R) Cordless 2.4 GHz Presenter, the new wireless presentation controller with a built-in programmable timer introduced in January.

WirelessUSB, which is based on a patent-pending, frequency-agile, Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) data transmission technique, offers a unique combination of robust performance, low power, low latency and immunity to interference from sources such as cordless phones and WiFi devices. With a transmission range of up to 10 meters, it can be deployed as a point-to-point or multipoint-to-point solution. Operating in the 2.4 GHz global ISM band, WirelessUSB technology allows customers to deploy their solutions worldwide, regardless of regional frequency requirements. WirelessUSB technology provides designers with a highly flexible architecture that decreases development time, component count and overall system costs.

"For the Cordless 2.4 GHz Presenter, WirelessUSB helped us implement an aggressive development timeline and get our product to market quickly," said Ashish Arora, Logitech director of product marketing for retail pointing devices. "Cypress's wireless technology also enabled us to meet our system cost objectives."

"We are pleased that Logitech chose WirelessUSB for this design," said Christopher Norris, vice president of Cypress's Consumer and Computation Division. "The win builds on the momentum generated by recent design wins at other high-profile customers. We believe that our strong relationships with PC and peripheral manufacturers will help continue to drive WirelessUSB success."
