Only NOR Flash Memory Supplier Selected, Spansion Receives Honor from Lenovo for Third Consecutive Year

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Jan 30, 2007 -- Spansion Inc. (Nasdaq: SPSN), the world's largest pure-play provider of Flash memory solutions, today announced that it has received the Best Supplier award from Lenovo Mobile Communication Technology Ltd. for 2006 for the third consecutive year. Spansion has received this honor from Lenovo and was the only NOR Flash memory supplier selected.

The award, Lenovo's highest form of recognition for its suppliers, represents an important customer acknowledgement of Spansion's commitment to providing exceptional Flash memory solutions and customer support to the Chinese wireless handset industry.

"Lenovo gives its best supplier award to companies who have contributed to our successes with cutting-edge products and solutions, as well as strong customer support," said Mr. ZhiJun Liu, senior vice president of Lenovo Group and general manager of Lenovo Mobile Communications Technology Ltd. "As our long-term business partner, Spansion has been committed to adding value to our mobile phone brand, enabling us to address the dynamic user demands and bring more exciting wireless experiences to our customers."

Today's mobile users are increasingly demanding multi-media features in handsets, such as high-resolution digital camera capabilities, CD-quality audio, and DVD-quality video. This creates a growing challenge for handset designers to develop platforms that accommodate flexible amounts of both code and data storage. Using memory sub-systems based on Spansion's proprietary MirrorBit(R) NOR and MirrorBit ORNAND(TM) architectures, customers can develop a single, scalable platform that enables a range of storage capabilities with reduced time-to-market and design complexity. Spansion(R) MirrorBit NOR Flash memory solutions have been used in over 10 different Lenovo handsets.

"Winning Lenovo's Best Supplier of The Year for the third consecutive year is a strong endorsement of Spansion's long-term commitment to the Chinese wireless industry," said Gary Wang, corporate vice president and general manager, Spansion Inc., Asia Pacific. "By leveraging the cost-efficiency and density flexibility of Spansion's MirrorBit technology, Lenovo can offer innovative handset products for a range of platforms and user expectations. Spansion will continue to closely work with Lenovo to deliver memory solutions with high performance and more advanced storage features and capacity."
