Cypress to Sponsor Academic Conference in Beijing To Showcase Programmable Technologies
Cypress will also host PSoC® Workshop on December 7
San Jose, Calif., November 29, 2010- Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (Nasdaq: CY) today announced its sponsorship of the 2010 International Conference on Field Programmable Technology in Beijing, China. The conference will take place at Tsinghua University from December 8-10, 2010 with demonstrations, workshops, and a design competition on the agenda. Cypress will feature its flagship PSoC®, Programmable System-on-Chip Technology.
On December 7, Cypress will host a workshop entitled “Cypress Programmable System on Chip Tutorial.” The workshop, led by Patrick Kane, Cypress’s director of university relations, will cover getting started with PSoC, the breakthrough PSoC 3 and PSoC 5 architectures, and the PSoC Creator design environment.
“We’re excited to become more involved with the programmable technology conference this year,” said Kane. “Programmable technologies are increasingly becoming a key part of engineering education. The PSoC technology is a perfect vehicle for students to learn about programmability in embedded applications.”
The conference will feature notable speakers such as National Instruments CEO Dr. James Truchard, Professor Shaojun Wei of Tsinghua University, Dr. Ivo Bolsens CTO of Xilinx, and Professor Stephen Brown of Altera Corporation. The theme of this year’s design competition is general purpose computing on FPGAs. Teams in the competition will develop hardware that can compete against opponents in a game of Reversi (also known as Othello).
