SAN JOSE, Calif., April 20, 2004 - Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE: CY), a world leader in timing-technology solutions, announced volume production of its programmable spread-spectrum clock generator (SSCG). The CY25200ZZC offers versatile programming features, multi-function outputs and control pins, enabling this single-chip SSCG to replace alternative two-chip solutions while significantly reducing electro-magnetic interference (EMI).
Today's high-speed digital electronic systems are a breeding ground for EMI; spread spectrum technology is a highly effective way to reduce it. The CY25200ZZC features unsurpassed flexibility and provides a wide range of spread percentages for maximum EMI reduction. By integrating frequency synthesis and input gain block into the CY25200ZZC, the device can run effectively with any crystal or crystal oscillator input. By using this device, Cypress customers can eliminate difficult to use higher-order crystals or crystal oscillators.

The CY25200ZZC features six clock outputs and offers a wide operating output frequency range, which enables designers to program the EMI reduction from 3 to 200 MHz. In order to meet regulatory agency electromagnetic compliance (EMC) requirements, programmable spread-spectrum feature provide a wide range of down or center spread percentages (0.5 to 5.0%) for maximum EMI reduction. Depending on the application, the CY25200ZZC provides up to 20 dB EMI reduction using a worst-case harmonic.

The CY25200ZZC is available now in a 16-pin TSSOP package with a commercial operating temperature range of 0 to 70 degrees C. The CY25200ZZZ is priced at $1.35 per unit in 1,000 unit quantities.
