Cypress to Present Lowest Cost Network Search Solution At Network Systems Design Conference
Special Break-out Session to be held on Thursday, October 21, 2004Includes Papers on Innovative NSE Architecture And Easy-to-Use Software Support
SAN JOSE, Calif., October 14, 2004 - Cypress Semiconductor (NYSE: CY) today announced a series of presentations and booth demonstrations highlighting the industry's lowest cost network search solution at the Network Systems Design Conference (NSDC) to be held at the Parkside Hall and Crowne Plaza Hotel, San Jose, California from October 19-21, 2004. Expert architects and engineers will go into detail on how Cypress's portfolio alleviates packet processing bottlenecks.
During the "Beyond TCAMs" session on Thursday, October 21, at 8.30 a.m., Dr. Srinivasan Venkatachary, Principal Architect, will present a paper on the architecture and performance of algorithmic-based network search engines (NSEs). The paper will highlight Cypress's Sahasra(TM) 50000 NSE family. The Sahasra device is the industry's first algorithmic search engine to combine the ease of use of a ternary content addressable memory (TCAM) with the increased routing capacity of an algorithmic search solution. Compared to traditional TCAM- or DRAM-based search engines, Cypress's Sahasra 50000 NSE provides significant capacity and performance improvements for lookup applications.
In addition, Cypress will sponsor a special break-out session on Thursday, October 21, 2004 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Papers on the following topics will be presented:
- Improving Hashing with NSEs; Anand Rangarajan, Software Engineering Manager
- Cynapse(TM) Software Platform for NSE-based Systems; Jason Baumbach, Applications Manager
Cypress will also showcase the operation of its Cynapse Software Platform (SP) in booth #406.
Cynapse SP provides networking vendors with a common control-plane API that supports Cypress's entire portfolio of TCAM-based and algorithmic-based NSEs. Cynapse SP allows software developers to fully develop and simulate applications prior to instantiation in hardware to accelerate time-to-market.
Cypress's Complete Packet Processing Solution
Cypress's search solution includes a comprehensive portfolio of products to address all segments of the search market. In addition to its highly successful TCAM-based solutions (Ayama 10000 and Ayama 20000 NSEs), Cypress is the only vendor to also offer an algorithmic SRAM-based forwarding search engine (Sahasra 50000) to address the search needs of systems requiring large forwarding tables of more than 1 million table entries. The Ayama 20000 NSEs are the first of their kind to offer a FastLink(TM) cascaded interface; a heterogeneous interface for optimized search subsystems which when combined with Cypress's easy-to-use Cynapse software enables seamless interworking of Cypress NSE families, including both TCAM-based NSEs and algorithmic-based NSEs.
Cypress's comprehensive NSE portfolio has been adopted by leading vendors in the router, L2/L3 switch, CMTS, DSLAM and storage area network (SAN) segments. Cypress is an Affiliate Member with the Intel(r) Communications Alliance, a community of communications and embedded developers and solution providers.
