Cypress to Present CMOS Image Sensor Solutions for Handset Applications at Next Generation Telecom China Conference

Event to Be Held October 11-13 at the Great Wall Sheraton Hotel in Beijing

BEIJING, China, October 10, 2005 - Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE: CY) today announced that it will present CMOS image sensor solutions for handset applications at the NGT China conference, to be held October 11-13 at the Great Wall Sheraton Hotel in Beijing, China. Cypress will discuss the critical role that CMOS image sensors play in a wireless imaging system, and highlight solutions featuring its broad portfolio of image sensors. The presentation by Donato Montanari, director of consumer products in Cypress's Image Sensors Business Unit, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on October 12.

Cypress's presentation will focus on the advanced CMOS image sensor technologies that will enable Cypres to be a key player in this market. Cypress's product portfolio will be discussed including its high-quality, low-cost 3.0-megapixel CMOS image sensor designed to bring digital still camera quality to handsets.

"The demand for CMOS image sensors-essentially cameras on a chip made with standard CMOS process technology-is growing rapidly, driven by a swift expansion of the market for digital still cameras (DSCs) and cell phone cameras," said Montanari. "Mobile device users are demanding improved image quality on smaller and smaller optical formats. Cypress's multimegapixel image sensor solutions directly address this requirement by delivering economical camera-enabled products with improved image quality and resolution at a lower overall system cost."

Montanari is responsible for bringing to the market leading-edge CMOS image sensors optimized for cell phones and digital still cameras. Before joining Cypress in 2002, Montanari was at Testchip Technologies in Austin, Texas, where he was responsible for starting, developing and managing a new  NVM business unit, including its product definition and design. Before Testchip Technologies, Montanari worked in the Memory Product Division at Cypress, the Material and Packaging Division at IMEC in Leuven, Belgium, and in the Central Research and Development Division at ST in Milan, Italy.  He holds four U.S. patents and has eleven patents pending in the field of circuit design.  He also has been a participant, speaker and invited speaker at several international technical conferences and workshops.
