Cypress Envirosystems' Wireless Gauge Reader Wins 2010 Golden Gas Award
Efficiency-Improving Automation Solution Clips-On to Existing Dial Gauges for Gas Cylinders
And Other Applications to Transmit Data and Enable Automatic Trending and Alarming
SAN JOSE, Calif., February 25, 2010 — Cypress Envirosystems, a subsidiary of Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NASDAQ: CY), today announced that its Wireless Gauge Reader (WGR) has won a 2010 Golden Gas Award from Gases & Instrumentation International, a MetaWord, Inc. premiere publication covering the technology of industrial, specialty and medical gases. The WGR won in the Cylinders/Packaging/Valves category based on the following criteria: the product’s ability to solve an important challenge to the gas industry; technological innovativeness; environmental “green” attributes; superior specifications in terms of power requirements, speed, footprint, maintenance; cost effectiveness, and other quality considerations.
The patent-pending WGR clips-on to the front face of an existing gauge to capture and transmit the readings. It installs in minutes and does not require removing old gauges, breaking pressure seals, performing leak checks, running wires or interrupting the underlying process. It costs 70% less to install than a traditional transducer and enables automatic trending and alarming of process parameters to reduce energy use, lower maintenance labor, improve uptime and reduce consumable usage. The WGR also delivers informed supply chain management, such as sending instant notification when a resource needs replenishing. Paul Nesdore, G&I’s Publisher/Editor stated the following on the 2010 entrants: “This is the finest array of products we have ever seen. Our judges, representing decades of experience in all aspects of gases technologies, had a difficult time, as the products entered represented the cutting-edge of gases technology and implementation.” Cypress Envirosystems will receive a Golden Gas Award trophy at the PITTCON 2010 Conference and Expo at the Orange County Convention center in Orlando, Florida, which runs from February 28 to March 5. The May/June issue of G&I will feature all of the winners accepting their awards and a description of their products. For more information, visit www.gasesmag.com.
“The energy conservation, non-invasive installation and fast return-on-investment of our Wireless Gauge Reader are earning the attention of building, plant and manufacturing site managers,” said Harry Sim, CEO of Cypress Envirosystems. “We’re pleased and proud to see industry experts validate the value of the WGR with a Golden Gas Award.”
Cypress Envirosystems' technologies enable older buildings and manufacturing sites to adopt the latest automation technologies at an affordable cost, and with minimal disruption to existing occupants, processes and staff. The products require minutes to install and typically provide payback within 12 months.
