Hall 10, Booth #200

SAN JOSE, Calif., September 7, 2004 - Cypress Semiconductor (NYSE: CY), a world leader in backplane physical-layer devices (PHYs), today announced that it will participate in the International Broadcasters Conference (IBC) to be held at the RAI Convention Centre, Amsterdam, Netherlands from September 10 through September 14, 2004.  Cypress will demonstrate its full-featured SMPTE-Compliant HOTLink II SERDES video platform in booth #200.

The video demonstration board (CYV15G0403DX-VIDEO)is a self-contained professional video demonstration with the capacity to handle several video standard signals, including the Society of Motion Pictures and Television Engineers (SMPTE) 259M and 292M and the Digital Video Broadcast Asynchronous Serial Interface (DVB-ASI).At either speed, designers have the ability to individually configure each of the four channels of the HOTLink II SERDES. Without sacrificing integrity or design flexibility, CYV15G0403DX-VIDEO will reduce component count by 70 percent, minimize board space and reduce system cost by as much as 50 percent.

The CYV15G0403DX-VIDEO demonstration platform opens the door to numerous substantial functions on a per-channel basis, including SMPTE pathological test pattern generation, color bar production, reclocking, SMPTE scrambling and descrambling, and auto-rate detection.  Other highlights of CYV15G0403DX-VIDEO include video transmission using a Cypress EZ-USB FX2 connection to view video on a PC display with a software application, Standard Definition-Standard Digital Interface (SD-SDI) to High Definition-Standard Digital Interface (HD-SDI) up-conversion, as well as image transmittance over a USB connection through the quad independent-channel HOTLink II SERDES to an SDI video monitor producing the original image.  This video board also contributes to Cypress's outstanding performance with third-party cable drivers and equalizers.
