Cypress Awarded 750th Patent For Programmable Solutions Portfolio

Patents Highlight Programmable Innovations and Expertise; Provide Intellectual Property Protection

SAN JOSE, CA, December 3, 2008 -- Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE: CY) today announced that it has recently been granted its 750th patent relating to its programmable solutions portfolio. The patents pertain to numerous product types, including programmable clocks, programmable logic, and PSoC® programmable system-on chip devices. PSoC patents are the fastest growing segment within the portfolio.

"This milestone is a testament to the creativity and knowledge of Cypress engineers," said Paul Keswick, Executive Vice President of New Product Development for Cypress. "We introduced our first programmable product in 1984, and we have been building on that expertise for 25 years. Our patents span from simple circuits to complex algorithms that will be implemented in our next-generation PSoC devices."

In total, Cypress has been granted over 1650 patents. In addition to the granted patents, Cypress currently has over 1100 patents pending, including over 300 applications related to programmable technology.
