Cypress Appoints Chris Seams Vice President of Marketing and Sales

Assignment Aims to Improve Coordination of Sales and Manufacturing, Enhance Customer Responsiveness and Support

SAN JOSE, Calif., June 24, 2005 - Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE: CY) today announced that Chris Seams, Cypress's vice president of manufacturing and R&D and a 15-year veteran of the company, has been promoted to VP of marketing and sales-a position that has been expanded to include assembly and test operations. The appointment consolidates order entry, production control, back-end manufacturing and customer support under a single vice president.

Seams replaces Ralph Schmitt, who is leaving Cypress to become the CEO of a publicly traded chip company.  Schmitt's investor relations responsibilities will shift to Neil Weiss, a finance vice president and the company's treasurer.

Shahin Sharifzadeh, Cypress's vice president of R&D, has been named vice president of manufacturing and R&D, assuming two of Seams' current responsibilities-wafer fabrication and process R&D. Sharifzadeh will report to Cypress CEO T.J. Rodgers. Jeff Kaszubinski, an 18-year Cypress veteran, will report to Sharifzadeh as the new vice president of R&D.

"The new sales and marketing organization is designed to improve Cypress's responsiveness to our customers," Rodgers said. "The function now incorporates the ability to interact with customers, answer their questions, schedule their orders, and ship them products on time with zero defects."

Seams was appointed executive vice president for technology and manufacturing in 2000. He earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in 1984 from Texas A&M University and his master's degree in electrical and computer engineering in 1988 from the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to joining Cypress in 1990, he worked as a process development engineer or manager for Advanced Micro Devices and Philips Research Laboratories.  He currently serves on the board of directors at SunPower Corp. and 1st Silicon.
