SAN JOSE, Calif." March 23, 2006 -- Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE: CY) today announced the appointment of Babak Hedayati as senior vice president of worldwide marketing.

An 18-year veteran of the semiconductor industry, Hedayati comes to Cypress from Xilinx Inc., where he headed that company's Worldwide Product Solutions Marketing Organization and helped to establish it as a clear leader in the programmable logic business.

Hedayati's responsibilities at Cypress will include strategic and vertical marketing, mergers and acquisitions and corporate marketing communications. He will report to Chris Seams, executive vice president of Sales, Marketing and Operations.

"Babak brings nearly two decades of technology marketing experience to Cypress with broad experience marketing semiconductors, software, intellectual property, and systems," said Cypress EVP Seams. "At Xilinx, he helped to shape and execute innovative marketing strategies, campaigns and product launches, enabling the company to expand into new markets and transform itself from a glue logic vendor to a system solutions provider. I am confident that Babak will be instrumental in improving our go-to-market strategy, positioning us for growth over the long haul."

"I am thrilled to join one of the best brands and most innovative semiconductor companies in the world," Hedayati said. "Cypress maintains an aggressive entrepreneurial leadership team and attitude. It has solid core businesses-including memories, USB and clocks-and unfolding opportunities in programmable mixed-signal arrays, silicon solar cells, CMOS image sensors and optical technologies. Cypress clearly is poised to capitalize on market trends better than any time in its history."

Prior to joining Xilinx, Hedayati held positions at Altera, 3DO, Zycad, and National Semiconductor.  Hedayati holds a bachelor's of science degree in electrical engineering from San Jose State University and has continued his education through the Stanford Executive Program.
