AgigA Tech to Present Paper on Non-Volatile DIMMs as Alternatives to Uninterruptible Power Supplies at 2011 Server Design Summit

Last Updated: November 29, 2011

Ron Sartore, AgigA Tech CEO, will Present Wednesday, November 30 at 8:30 a.m. in the Power Management Session

SAN DIEGO, Calif., November 28, 2011 – AgigA Tech Inc., a subsidiary of Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NASDAQ: CY) and leading developer of high-speed, high-density, battery-free non-volatile memory solutions, today announced that Ron Sartore, founder and CEO, will present a paper entitled “Hello Non-Volatile DIMMs – Goodbye UPS” at the 2011 Server Design Summit in Santa Clara, CA  this week. The paper, to be presented during the Power Management Session at 8:30 a.m. Pacific time on Wednesday, November 30, will look at the potential of Non-Volatile DIMMs (NVDIMMs) as an alternative to the ubiquitous Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS).

AgigA Tech will also showcase several live product demonstrations of its AGIGARAM™ non-volatile memory solutions at the conference. AGIGARAM is a new class of non-volatile memory developed to meet the need for higher-density, higher-performance memory for enterprise-class storage and server applications. By combining DRAM, flash, an intelligent system controller and an ultracapacitor power source, AGIGARAM provides a highly reliable memory subsystem that runs with the latency and endurance of the fastest DRAM, and with the persistence of flash. Until recently, designers have reluctantly used batteries to maintain their data during power outages. Others have moved toward new flash-based technologies for memory persistence, but this option falls short of DRAM in terms of latency, speed, endurance and reliability. AGIGARAM enables the fastest possible system performance while also eliminating the many headaches associated with batteries, such as hazardous material disposal, short operating life and extensive maintenance.
