Spread aware characteristics of CY2305

Last Updated: November 23, 2011

Why does the signal of spread spectrum input going to a zero delay buffer not support spread aware? The output waveform appeared abnormal. Shouldn't the signal be spread aware in this case?

If the PLL is not Spread Aware, meaning the PLL does not support spread spectrum input, then it won't be able to track the frequency variation (recreate the spread spectrum profile). If the applications requires spread spectrum for emi reduction, it won't pass emi test because the spread profile is non-existent. The loop bandwidth of CY2305 is not sufficient to pass a spread spectrum signal and will most likely filter it. Check Spread Aware clock buffers that will pass the spread aspectrum signal.
