Question:

How can I add S70GL02GS support to Linux?

Answer:

Cypress S70GL02GS devices are internally composed of two 1-Gbit dies. This means that it is more or less two 1-Gbit devices that share a common chip select. Depending on the address provided, the one or other die will be selected. Therefore, the Linux MTD subsystem needs to probe and operate the S70GL02GS as two independent chips.

In order to achieve this some minor changes to the CFI values of the device have to be applied. A small patch for this is available on request from Cypress. Open a technical support case, provide your kernel version, and ask for the S70GL02GS Linux patch.
