PCMCIA Implementation for the CY7C68013/CY7C68013A (FX2/FX2LP)

Last Updated: April 03, 2011

Can the FX2/FX2LP be used to implement a PCMCIA controller? If so, are there any reference designs or application notes that explain how to do this?

Yes. The FX2 can be used to implement the PCMCIA controller. Currently, we do not have any examples or collateral that provide a starting point to implement this. But this can be implemented using the GPIF feature of the FX2.

The FX2 has a feature called the GPIF (The General Programmable InterFace ) which is an extremely flexible 8- or 16-bit parallel interface that can provide a glueless interface between the EZ-USB FX2 and many different types of external peripherals. The GPIF allows the EZ-USB FX to perform local bus mastering to external peripherals using a wide variety of protocols. More information about GPIF can be found in the link EZ-USB® FX2LP™ GPIF Design Guide - AN66806
