Input Protection Diode Capabilities

Last Updated: March 18, 2011

Can you help me verify the capabilities and specifications of the input protection diodes in the PSoC?

Input diodes are intended for over-voltage protection, particularly ESD, 2kV, human body model. It is possible that the part will latch up if a peak current greater than 200 mA is applied to an input. However, lower input over-current, less than 5 to 10 mA, does not present a latch up problem as long as the PSoC does not overheat due to the additional current. The maximum current that a PSoC1 device can sink is 25mA on any I/O pin.
