Human Body Model - KBA84770
What is the human body model?
The human-body model (HBM) is the most commonly used model for characterizing the susceptibility of an electronic device to damage from electrostatic discharge (ESD). The model is a simulation of the discharge which might occur when a human touches a lead on a device while another lead is grounded. The resistance and capacitance used on this model represents these properties in an average person. This is the most widely accepted ESD stress method. In the US market, 2000 volts is the typical qualification requirement, with 4000 volts (or greater) being termed as static insensitive. The specifications for PSoC are 2200 V for PSoC 3 and 2000 V for PSoC 5LP.
