Floating data input on CMOS SRAM

Last Updated: March 13, 2012

I used a SRAM which has a x32 configuration and now I am forced to use a x36 configuration. I have the 4 unused inputs floating. Is this okay?

It is not recommended to leave the CMOS inputs floating. None of the SRAM parts have any internal pullups or pulldowns on the data inputs to have a valid signal when an input is left floating. If the customer does not want to use the datalines for parity, they have to be pulled up or pulled down.
