the dedicated pin P0 for the PSoC4 external oscillator need to be configured (where and how).

In the clock view, double click on any clock to get the "Configure System Clocks" dialog. There you tell the external clock's frequency and change the source for the main-clock HFCLK to external. No other specifications for pin 0_6 are needed afaik. Do not put p0_6 into your pin list, will be handled by the system.
Hi, In the ExtOsc.png you can see the settings. All works now OK. My problem with VALPEY-FISHER 40 MHz oscillator was caused by HW. On the CY8CKIT-042 one ceramic 100n blocking condensator and one tantal 1uF elyt as close as possible to the oscillator solved the situation with oscillator start/stability. Regards, Viktor
It's good that people come back and post the result. This can help the others that has the same problem :-)
Viktor, when using bulk bypassing, tants, take a look at Polymer Tantalum,
'they have ~ 10X better f vs ESR curves than traditional tantalums. Much better
