Hello,

Request to explain the difference between PRoC and CyFi and their targeted application or end use segment.

We can get this after studying cypress web site, but an insight from a knowledgable person will help.

Hi Vinay,

PRoC is a chip targeted at human interface device applications (mice and keyboards). CyFi on the other hand is a platform made up of a chipset (PSoC + CyFi Transceiver) and a protocol stack (the CyFi Star Network Protocol).

For your application that you mentioned in the other thread, the right choice is the CyFi platform. Select the PSoC that is most suitable to your application (in terms of the analog/digital resources that you require), and pair it with the CYRF7936-40LFXC CyFi transceiver.

Do you need more information about PSoC devices?

Hello Syf

1) Difference between PRoC and CyFi is clear to me.

2) We are regularly using PSoC and Capsense devices, so we are comfortable with them

We have read 101 and 102 training for CyFi, now concept behind CyFi RF and PSoC software is clear to us.

We are considering CyFi in current project, already approached local distributor for costing etc.

Hi Vinay,

I'm glad you took advantage of the CyFi 101 and 102 training. Do you have any feedback for us? We are working on creating more advanced training modules, and we would appreciate any feedback you can give us on the ones that are already in place.

Hello,

Content wise CY101, 102 covers what they intend to, nicely, with perfect balance of information for people having PSoC experience.

Technical issues:

If you download the training (do not watch online) module.

FAQ web link has been changed. This is pointing to knowledgebase artical regarding - getting attached code.

Movie showing PSoC designer placement etc. operation does not play inside the training module. We observed them seperatly on flash player by going to individual movie folders and selecting them.

Wish list for next courses:

1) PCB antenna design and guide line.

2) Descreate Component selection criteria (keeping RF in mind) - so selecting components from different vendors can be streamlined. Any crictical parameters in selecting inductor / capacitors?

3) RF performance testing of newly designed PCBs by customer - preferably without extensive RF lab, or utilising Cypress RF board as reference and deducing parameters from them.

4) small - middle volume production testing of boards with RF.

Hope this helps you. Though this appnote is not meant for CyFi , You need to follow on the same guide lines for cyfi.
