 Hi all,

When I connect BLE USB dongle to a computer's USB port, the "Status" LED is blinking quickly. I assume it blinks with 15 Hz (as I have read from CY8CKIT-042_BLE kit guide) and it never stops blinking.

Also PSoC Programmer does not see donlge. That is tha same for CySmart application. Neither a device can be seen in USB devices list.

When I push the reset button in the dongle then computer sees a device (as KitProg Bootloader) and also the "Upgrade firmware" button in PSoC Programmer is enabled. By pressing the "Upgrade firmware" button it seems that a firmware upgrade is performed successfully but finally the device is disconnected as it can be seen in the attached photo. Also, on the Port Selection there is no existence of the KitProg label showing that the device has been found.

I do not know what is happening. Could this be a defective part or I am doing something wrong?
I have also studied this post but it did not help.

Thank you in advance.

Regards,
Yiannis

In the BLE Kit Guide is an exact procedure given to update

a) the programmer

b) the firmware of the dongle. The firmware for the CySmart application is also listed under the above link.

After updating the programmer, it is goog practice to remove (cont to 47) and re-plug the dongle in case a different driver must be loaded.

Thank you very much for your answer Bob.

I think that the KitProg of the Dongle is not updated correctly so it cannot be seen by the operating sytem when I connect it (the status LED flashes quickly).

The KitProg can be updated with the latest programmer version. Procedure is explained in the kit's manual.

Thank you for your answer.
Something different happens here and firmware is not updated as explained in the procedure.

I have created a ticket in technical support and waiting for an answer.

Another engineer and I both had issues with the dongle that came in each of our kits as well.  I wrote up some instructions with screenshots that could help fix the issue, you can find them at https://www.eewiki.net/display/Wireless/Fixing+Connection+Issues+between+the+Cypress+CySmart+Software+and+the+CY5670+USB+Dongle.

I hope the link helps, best of luck.
