The Matrix Keypad is outside of a standard MCU development environment, offering pin configurable solutions for setting button sensitivity, flanking sensor suppression, and General Purpose Output (GPO) functionality. The Mars FX3 kits contain everything that a developer needs to implement an efficient streaming data transfer between a FPGA and a Windows 7 based host PC including hardware, software and firmware.

The kits are available with a Xilinx FPGA (Spartan-6, Artix-7) hosted on one of Enclustra’s Mars family of SO-DIMM sized FPGA modules.

The Mars PM3 carrier board hosts Cypress EZ-USB FX3 device controller CYUSB3014-BZXI. The compact p-ITX sized board runs off a 12V DC power supply and contains a FMC LPC connector (FPGA mezzanine card, low pin count).

The GPIF II port is used as the connection between the FPGA and the Cypress EZ-USB FX3 USB 3.0 device controller. The reference design uses the Slave FIFO mode in the 32 bit mode at up to 100 MHz.

The Mars FX3 kits are equally well suited for rapid prototyping and for building low-quantity FPGA systems without building custom hardware.

Build your FPGA system in minutes and start taking advantage of the powerful FPGA technology.

The pre-verified reference design and tutorial will jump-start your development by demonstrating upstream performance of 350+ MByte/sec on selected hosts.

The kits are delivered with the free versions of the schematics (not including power circuits and decoupling). The host demonstration software, the EZ-USB FX3 user firmware and the FPGA HDL design are provided in source code. FPGA vendor design software and a programming cable are required in order to modify and recompile the FPGA design. The kit is factory firmware flashed and runs out of the box when connected to a Windows XP/Vista/7 based PC with the provided Cypress driver and demonstration software.

The Automatic Change over Cum Current Limiter (ACCL) is used in commercial and residential buildings. The billing machine based on PSoC 3 is designed to replace the manual billing system and positioned for entry level Point of Sale (PoS) segment.

The solution has a pre-loaded customized menu that a user can select using CapSense buttons based on Cypress’s SmartSense Technology. The solution uses 18 CapSense buttons.The user has the option to select an item from the menu and need to enter the weight for each item. The bill for all the items entered is generated and printed on a 2 inch Thermal Printer. The stepper motor in thermal printer interface is controlled to provide “noise free” and smooth print outs. The solution uses a 16x2 alpha numeric LCD display.

The solution has Buzzer, Real Time Clock (RTC) and Serial Flash. The unit can communicate with PC
through UART / USB interface. The customized report can be generated and maintains the inventory info.

PSoC 3 provides a flexible platform for various models of the solution.

  Description  
 

The Automated Meter Reading (AMR) solution uses Cypress’s PLC (Power Line Communication) technology for timely and reliable monitoring and acquisition of utilities meter readings at consumer premises from remote. The solution can be used for electricity, water and gas meters.

The solution uses the existing 230V / 110V AC power transmission wires thus requires no extra wiring. This eliminates the issue of concrete walls, slabs or other type of obstacles – a big hurdle for wireless solutions. The range increases to hundreds of meters with obstacles. The use of repeaters can increase the range to kilometers.

The concentrator module collects data from every meter reader (node) using PLC. It then transfers the data to central website over GPRS connectivity. The website in turn feeds the data to service provider’s billing servers thus creating a totally automated and reliable measurement and billing infrastructure.

Value added services include alerts for prepaid users, SMS facility to switch off gas supply, alerts on gas leak detection and automatic switching off gas supply, credit card payment facility, etc.

The Digital Panel Meter (DPM) based on Cypress’s PSoC® programmable system-on-chip is a quick, cost-effective, programmable solution that addresses the needs of the digital panel meter market. The solution measures true RMS voltage or current with an accuracy of up to 0.3 percent over the entire input range.

The analog integration in PSoC makes it a single-chip solution and eliminates the need for external components that are required for signal conditioning. The auto-zeroing feature on power-up saves time during calibration. The measured true RMS voltage or current is displayed in a four-digit seven segment display. There are user keys to set parameters such as voltage (or current) range and Current Transformer (CT) ratio.The solution can be customized for DC voltage / current measurement.  Optional features include MODBUS, 4-20 mA output, and GUI for software calibration.

  Description  
 

PSoC 1 based industrial timer provides cost effective, programmable solution to meet the market requirements. The solution is available in two flavors.

  1. Timers with display (based on CY8C27x43 family)
  2. Timers without display i.e. blind timers (based on CY8C24x23A, CY8C21x23 families)

 

In timers with display, user keys are available to set parameters like time, mode, pass word, etc. The control inputs (Level / Pulse) start and reset the timing operations. The integrated comparator with internal voltage reference in PSoC 1 is used to detect the power down condition to store the parameters in the emulated EEPROM (Flash memory).

In blind timers, potentiometers and DIP switches are used to set the ON / OFF time, time range, unit of time and mode. The on-chip ADC is used to interface with the potentiometers. Blind timers start timing operation immediately after it is powered ON. There is no control input logic in blind timers.

  Description  
 

The Temperature Controller Solution, based on Cypress’s PSoC® programmable system-on chip device, is a universal input temperature controller that supports RTD, J, K, R, and S types of thermocouples, 4-20 mA current input, and 0-10 V DC input. The solution runs the PID algorithm with auto-tuning feature.

The analog integration in PSoC makes it a single-chip solution and eliminates the need for external components such as Programmable Gain Amplifier (PGA), voltage reference, and analog multiplexer that are required for signal conditioning. The solution has automatic cold junction compensation. It is also compensated for drift and stability over the entire operating temperature range.

The measured temperature is displayed in a four-digit, seven segment display. There are user keys to set parameters such as type of temperature sensor, set points, and hysteresis. The settings are stored in an on-chip flash memory. There are two programmable relay outputs - one for heating and cooling and one for PID logic. The solution is based on PSoC 1 (CY8C28452) and available in a small form factor. It is designed and developed by Triveni Electronics, one of Cypress’s premier design partners in India. The solution is highly programmable for any temperature sensor input and can be quickly customized to meet the specific needs of any temperature controller / indicator vendor.
