The communication interface for this solution is GPO. This Matrix solution is backwards compatible with standard mechanical matrix overlays, offering the required output to communicate with a host processor.

This solution can emulate a typical Keypad Scan Interface similar to that of a mechanical keypad.

This 16 button configurable solution is ready to provide a quick time-to-market advantage for customers, and contains Cypress's SmartSense, which auto-tunes for variance in temperature, noise, and overlay thickness. SmartSense establishes, monitors, and maintains the matrix SNR (System-to-Noise Ratio) for optimal CapSense performance.

With auto-tuning, the value provided by this solution is simple: the ability to create a unique user interface solution without having to learn or utilize custom programming firmware. The Matrix Keypad is outside of a standard MCU development environment, offering pin configurable solutions for setting button sensitivity, flanking sensor suppression, and General Purpose Output (GPO) functionality. This ends the need to both tune the system in development as well as during test, saving valuable engineering resources.

The Matrix Keypad is also backwards compatible with standard mechanical matrix overlays, offering the requisite output to communicate with a host processor. Customers no longer have to define a completely new interface system for a capacitive transition, but can maintain overall system stability.

CapSense has led the capacitive market for years, through robust noise immunity, flexible performance, and the ability to quickly create a platform system. With the addition of SmartSense, no firmware coding is necessary to implement this functional Matrix system. The CapSense device will automatically detect a change in a parameter such as temperature and adjust in-system, eliminating the need for intensive tuning.

The AEK-CY8C20xx7 QuietZone™ Starter Kit is designed for easy evaluation of the CY8C20247S-24LKXI and to develop proof of concepts by connecting directly to target design boards. The kit comes with a 5 pin header for connecting to the MiniProg3 and the CapSense IOs available on the 14 pin header can be directly connected to sensors for generating UI functions like buttons, sliders and proximity sensors. The CY8C20xx7/S is the most advanced capacitive touch sensing controller enabling proximity and water tolerance @ 1.8V. This family lowers the total BOM cost by replacing multiple components used for capacitive touch sensing and user interface control with a single chip.

The solution has a pre-loaded customized menu that a user can select using CapSense buttons based on Cypress’s SmartSense^™ Technology. The solution uses 18 CapSense buttons.The user has the option to select an item from the menu and need to enter the weight for each item. The bill for all the items entered is generated and printed on a 2 inch Thermal Printer. The stepper motor in thermal printer interface is controlled to provide “noise free” and smooth print outs. The solution uses a 16x2 alpha numeric LCD display.

The solution has Buzzer, Real Time Clock (RTC) and Serial Flash. The unit can communicate with PC
through UART / USB interface. The customized report can be generated and maintains the inventory info.

PSoC 3 provides a flexible platform for various models of the solution.

The CapSense based fan regulators and switches solution uses Cypress’s Capsense technology for touch controlled ON/OFF of switches and swipe controlled speed variation of fans. The modules can be used as electrical switches.

The module’s unique size allows to commission on the existing switch board itself without doing any alterations on the wiring. Since there is no any mechanical moving parts, the life of the module switches lasts for long. The stylish design of the body looks elegant.
