EZ-PDCCG2 is Cypress’s second generation USB Power Delivery controller which meets the requirements for USB Type-C Electronically Marked Cable Assembly (EMCA). The CCG2 controller reports the cable characteristics (e.g., current rating, cable length, etc) to the USB Power Delivery controller in the notebook, as an example. CCG2 supports field upgrades anytime-anywhere, during product development, in the production line or in the field.

Cypress’s CCG2 EMCA Paddle card reference design is intended to reduce design cycle time for Type-C cable customers. CCG2 is available in 20-ball CSP (3.3 mm2) and 14-pin DFN (8.7 mm2) packages. CCG2 reduces the BOM requiring only up to five external components to operate.
