CCG1 USB Type-C to Legacy USB Device Cable Paddle Card Reference Schematics

The Type-C to Legacy USB Device Cable has a USB Type-C plug on one end plugged into the Notebook with Type-C receptacle and either a USB Standard-B plug, USB Micro-B plug, USB Mini-B plug, or a USB Standard-A receptacle on the other end. Every Type-C cable must have an E-marker chip so that USB Power Delivery controller in the Notebook can learn the cable's capabilities.

CCG1 is Cypress’s first generation USB Power Delivery port controller which meets the requirements for USB Type-C Electronically Marked Cable Assembly (EMCA). The CCG1 controller reports the cable characteristics (e.g., current rating, cable length, etc) to the USB Power Delivery controller in the Notebook. CCG1 EMCA solution is available in 35-ball CSP (6.8 mm2) and supports field upgrades anytime-anywhere, during product development, on the production line or in the field.

Cypress has developed a CCG1 paddle card reference design for Type-C to Legacy USB Device cable to help reduce design cycle time for cable customers. This reference design contains CCG1 (CYPD1103-35FNXIT), a Type-C plug, wire pads for cable connectivity and passive components.
