PSoC® 5LP Kit Upgrade Program Open

We want to offer all of our current PSoC®5 customers the opportunity to upgrade your CY8CKIT-050 kit to a PSoC 5LP for free. There are drop-in, pin-for-pin compatible replacement parts for each of the PSoC 5 products in the PSoC 5LP family. The PSoC 5LP offers increased Analog precision with our class leading 12-bit SAR and a 20-bit DelSig ADC, Boost technology allowing for start-up from only 0.5V and lower power modes. The Kit Upgrade Program allows existing PSoC 5 users to try out these new features for free.

The upgrade program for the CY8CKIT-001 and CY8CKIT-010 to PSoC 5LP silicon will be coming in the first weeks of January. Look for an announcement at that time.

Will these upgrades be available through a European supplier? Currently we have to pay £45 import and handling costs on all orders from the US.

We are re-investigating the issue and will let you know if we can come up with a better way for you (and other European customers) to upgrade.

My list of parts to upgrade is a bit lengthy (8 items). Can I send you that list or do I have to fill out the form for each of them?

Last time I did this it cost me more in shipping and Import Duty to the UK than the board was worth. Can you gauantee that this 'for free' offer is worth taking? For example, can you ship from a UK office so I will not incur TNT's import duty? Or can you guarantee to mark the export documents properly so that they don't incur expensive import duty?

Bob - For now, you'll need to enter each separably so that we can track the upgrades properly. I will put in a request to see if we can't work on updating the Kit Upgrade site to make it easier to enter multiple upgrade requests at once. Sorry for the extra steps this time but we'll try to make it even easier in the future.

Right now we don't have the ability to ship the free board upgrades from our EU distributors or offices. We're working on how to best manage the situation to continue to follow all of the EU regulations while making sure that you and our other customers in the EU can take advantage of Cypress's upgrade programs at a minimal cost.

Can you elaborate on the "properly marked export documents"? Perhaps our distribution partner is marking items incorrectly and we can take care of that while we work on a more permanent solution.

Just wanted to put an update out there that we haven't forgotten about our EU customers. We are working on a solution so the shipping charges are more reasonable for our PSoC 5LP kit upgrades.

Thats good to know.

I'll look forward to seeing what you come up with :-)

Last time you shipped me something I got a surprise invoice from FedEx the following month for £35 / $55 that was on top of the £35 shipping costs that cypress took.

@Weil
Any word yet?

@Weil,

How about you ship them to your own UK Offices, pay the appropriate shipping and import duty yourselves, and then re-ship them from there to us end-users? That way we can pay just a local shipping and no import duty - the same as your USA customers.

@Weil - PLEASE can we have an update? I'm sure you have my email address. kenny@spider-e.com

Today, I applied to this upgrade on the Cypress site, but when I pressed "Request Exchange" button on the form, I got [empty string] exception: "Element KITREPLACE is undefined in FORM." The error seems to be caused at "Replacement kit:" pulldown on the form. But there is no option under this pulldown on the form. How can I deal with it?

After all, I got workaround of above problem using English version of Ubuntu, running on VM.

Similar problem was reported on your web page for PSoC 3 upgrade program. On PSoC 3 page, switching the default text encoding into English on a browser has solved the problem on Japanese system. I applied this solution to the PSoC 5 page, but in vain, in Safari/FireFox (MacOSX), IE9/FireFox (Windows).
