The dial-a-null method of FIR filter design, part 2

Go on, admit it, you've been gnawing your fingernails down to the quick, waiting for the resolution of this pair of FIR filter articles.  Well, gnawing time is over!  You can read the second part on

http://www.analog-eetimes.com/en/now-synthesize-your-fir-filters-using-high-school-algebra.html?cmp_id=71&news_id=222903141

and see just how easy it can be to make an FIR filter that has notches where you want them to be, not scattered randomly by some mystery filter design process.  Check out my 'null hypothesis'!  best / Kendall

This is great stuff to see how to design an FIR from first principles! Really appreciate it - perhaps you'll eventually be disrupting sales of (let's face it - overpriced) MATLAB with all this 'down and dirty' knowledge :)

Thanks! If my stuff helps people to use these costly and powerful tools more effectively and more confidently, that'll be satisfying. It's OK to use a sledgehammer to crack a nut as long as you actually understand how to use a nutcracker too!
