Congratulations to André Fernandes for being the first to correctly answer the question.
 
Precious metals are measured in the Troy system where a pound is about 373 grams. Other materials are measured in avoirdupois system where a pound weighs about 456 grams. 
 
So a pound of feathers weighs more than a pound of gold. (I don’t even want to hear about grams being a measure of mass and pounds a measure of force.)
 
I thought it was interesting that everyone first said they where the same. It wasn’t until I removed that option that other ideas were considered. It also works that way in engineering. You are sure you have the correct solution until the results tell you that you are wrong. It is onlt then you open up to new ideas.
 
As for the clue;
Troyes, founded in the medieval times, is a commune in the Champagne region of North Eastern France. It is where the Troy system gets it name.
 
Also, honorable mention goes to LOBM. You were wrong but you did offer up your sister for a chance to compete.
