Physics Question

Q: How much kinetic energy does a Toyota Highlander, accelerating at a rate of 6 miles per hour per second, over 100 yards of a on ramp, transfer to a deer?

A: At least eleven thousand bucks worth!

That right, my wife hit a deer in South Utah. She is okay, the car is totaled and the deer is DEAD. It was a buck but seeing that we didn’t have a deer tag, we couldn’t keep it.  A real pity for I imagine it was pretty tender. We strongly suspect that the deer had been drinking but the forest service cannot be help liable. On the engineering side, 11,000 bucks to one buck is 81dBd attenuation.
