I was flying down to San Jose today and I didn’t get upgraded to first class.
After the plane took off I noticed that there were empty seats in first class and I asked the attendant about it seeing how I am a MVP Gold. She said there had been a mix up. I told her I was not very happy about it and she promptly moved me up to first class.
Five minutes before the plane was to land I went back to my coach seat so I could easily retrieve my carry-on luggage. The people sitting around me looked puzzled so I told them that the majority of airplane accidents happen either at takeoff or landing and that this part of the plane was the safest place to be in case of an accident. So whenever I travel I buy a regular ticket for takeoff and landing and a first class seat for the middle part of the trip. If the weather gets rough I just mosey back to my safe seat.
I think most of them took me seriously. Silly people!
